A complete list of all the registered credit bureaus in South Africa and their contact details.

We’ve been discussing credit scores and how credit bureaus get to determine your ratings for loan applications in South Africa.

However, we never really ask exactly who are credit bureaus in the country. So today I want to list all the credit bureaus registered with the National Credit Regulator in the country.

Let’s get started.

What is a Credit Bureau?

A credit bureau plays an important role in the credit industry in South Africa.

Their job is nothing else but to provide lenders with customer credit rating reports in the country. And also obligated to give South Africans free credit reports as required.

Lenders would then use the content of the report to decide on unsecured personal loans.

How Do They Work?

The purpose of each credit bureau is not to make decisions on who to lend money but to collect customer information and analyse to assist lenders to make informed decisions.

Banks and other lenders will use this information to know your creditworthiness and the loan amount you could qualify for.

So the role of a credit bureau is vital in loan consideration-fairness and ensuring the correct loan applicant receives an affordable amount.
